The Auction for Suppliers
|
How the auction works:
Suppliers need to grade and sort product in accordance with the grading specifications that will be supplied by the AFM. This basically means that if a supplier sends 10 bins of snapper to the market that each bin should be a similar weight (within a set margin) and that the snapper in each bin are a similar size and all of the same quality.
The supplier delivers the product to AFM along with a delivery docket stating permit number, vessel name, species etc.. Deliveries will be received from 10PM the day prior to auction up until 4.30am and then again from 10am through to 3PM. Any deliveries before 10am each day are at the discretion of the Auction Manager and must be made by prior arrangement with the Auction Manager the day before expected delivery. The auction is open for recieving from Midnight on public holidays.
On arrival at the market each bin or package of product will be issued a barcode label. The information printed on the label will show the date, supplier, species, size, state/process, quality and weight. Once all information has been entered into the system the product is then transferred from the receiving area to the chiller display room where it is held until the buyer removes it after the auction.
A commission of 10% of the selling price of all product sold will be deducted from the payment made to suppliers. All suppliers will receive payment for their product from AFM on a fortnightly basis - no more waiting indefinitely for buyers to pay up.
